Establishment : Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMC, Barpeta) is a government medical college in Assam, situated at the city of Barpeta, the district head quarter of Barpeta district. The institute was founded on 11-th February 2011.
FAAMC, Barpeta has MBBS and MD/MS courses. At present there are 125 seats in MBBS course. Post-Graduate Courses (permitted) are running in the following subjects, Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Radio-diagnosis, Pathology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry. FAAMC, Barpeta also has paramedical diploma courses in Laboratory Technology, Radiography Technology, OT Technician, Physician Assistant and Physiotherapy. FAAMC is affiliated to the Srimanta Sankardev University of Health Sciences.

Medical Colleges in Assam under the Directorate of AYUSH, Assam
1. Government Ayurvedic College, Jalukbari:
Establishment: The Government Ayurvedic College is the pioneer institute of Indian system of medicine, in the entire North East India. It was established in the year 1948. The college is situated at Jalukbari, at a distance of 800 meter from the National Highway. Previously the College was affiliated by Gauhati University, Assam and still the old batches of students have been continuing their work under this University. After establishment of Health University in the state, the teaching, research and examination etc. of the College have been brought under Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam w.e.f. 2010 and the syllabus & curriculum prescribed by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, the statutory body of Indian System of Medicine, adopted by the University.
Function: Before independence the Lahore Congress session passed resolutions to establish Institutions related to Indian culture & heritage and scientific knowledge and to establish at least one or more Ayurvedic College in each of the state of the country in order to foster and patronize the Indian system of medicine. The establishment of Govt. Ayurvedic College at Guwahati(Assam) is also having the aim to serve the following functions.
- To expand the Ayurvedic Education in systemic way.
- To spread the practical knowledge for preparation of medicines as well as to acquire clinical knowledge through teaching and study of this ancient science for healing touch to the people of entire NE region of India.
- To serve the people of Assam and whole NE region in promotive of health and curative aspects.

2. SJN Homeopathic Medical College And Hospital:
Establishment: S.J.N Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital was established in 1975 in Guwahati Assam under the medical education and research department Government of Assam, presently it is under the AYUSH Directorate of Assam. The institute affiliated to Shrimanta Sankardeva University of health Sciences Assam. A presently conducts the degree course in Homeopathy viz Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) since 2007 and Post Graduate courses are under process.
Today it consists of undergraduate sections a hospital having an out patient department (Homeopathy, Yoga, Dentistry) and a 25 bedded inpatient department along With Investigative facilities. To serve the human society by providing preventive curative and palliative are based on principles of Homeopathy
Aim & Objectives of SJNHMCH:
